Category: Ian Fisher

Ian Fisher bought his first nice pipe, an unsmoked Dunhill billiard, at a junk shop in Baghdad in the early days of the Iraq war. A pipe became a calming ritual and a reliable friend during his 10 years as a foreign and war correspondent for The New York Times. He started making pipes just for pleasure, starting with pipe kits. During Covid, with the help of great teachers and fellow makers, he decided to devote himself to the craft. His aim is always to make a pipe he’d like to smoke himself.
