The original Bowser’s Castle (2015-2017) was the creation of Jon David Cole for a long-time friend and patron, Briar Bowser. Staying true to the original blend, Latakia, and Red Virginia are the dominant players in this mixture. For this level, the blend was recreated by Quinn Crawford (The Magnolia Piper) who wanted to maintain the dark and brooding flavors of the original yet with the complexity of a tangy/sweetness/nutty flavor profile.

Received an ounce of Bowser’s Castle yesterday.
It is absolutely ready to smoke upon arrival. Moisture level is actually a little on the dry side, but this allows you to just sit and barely sip this tobacco without having to relight constantly.
It smells very pleasant. Woody, earthy, with a peppery spiciness.
It smokes lovely, as I already mentioned, no relight needed until the bottom of the bowl, with minimal work to keep it burning.
Just sit and sip on this tobacco. I mean barely sip and let the flavor roll over your tongue and you’ll be rewarded with a great flavor of earthy, spicy, lemongrass.
The Virginias take the lead, but the Latakia is definitely there as well. It is perfectly blended and balanced in my opinion.
I had no problem with it biting or burning hot, but I could see it doing so if smoked too fast or aggressive. Puffing it brings out more of the peppery spice in my opinion, but barely sipping it is where this tobacco’s sweet spot is.
The first bowl I smoked was right after an hour long crawfish binge, so the flavors didn’t come through. But the second bowl was later that night when the house was completely quiet and I was sitting alone in my recliner with no noise but the crickets chirping outside, and I just sat there and slowly sipped on it and really paid attention to the flavors and I was just like “Damn, this is a great tasting blend.”

Firstly let me say simply: another masterful blend from Country Squire. Whether aromatics or non aromatics, I’ve yet to try a single blend from the folks at CS that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed.
This is definitely a bolder blend but is deliciously rich and many layered. The bag note was precisely as described, but after a few weeks I find that the salt and hickory dominate with that sweet, rich molasses coming in on the end. It lights right out if the bag and though it actually seems too dry at first- it’s actually just right. On the retrohale there is a wonderful malty and savory richness on top with a woodsy earthiness on the back then gets lifter by the high, fragrant grassiness notes. I love all the layers! The actual smoking flavors are close to what I get via the retrohale but with the addition of those peppery notes. I’m glad I purchased a few bags of this- can’t wait to see how it ages if I can manage to resist smoking it all before it can age at all!

It’s the perfect English blend in my humble opinion. It’s perfect in every way.

All the things I like in an English blend are here. Just enough an edge to there to keep it honest while being surprisingly pleasant and comforting. There is something very familiar about the blend that I can’t put my finger on yet that takes me back to bowls of something I had a number of years ago. If I was forced to choose this could be my desert island tobacco.

I hesitate to leave a review for Bowsers Castle Vol2. I hesitate because, I don’t want people to know about it! I have hundreds of tins, pounds and pounds of bulk tobaccos…And This is what I reach for every night. I’ve done this before with a few other blends, but it fades. This hasn’t faded in several months. I’ve smoked almost a full pound and have 2lbs stashed…and ordering more. I seriously hope they keep this in the lineup forever! As for this Company (Country Squire) Top Notch in product, service, website, and shipping. Thank You Guys!
