I am typically not an aromatic smoker because I like my blends to be rich and savory, not syrupy sweet. However Country Squire has an amazing ability to turn out aromatics that fit my palette and this is certainly one of them. I have smoked this on the Hoh River Trail in Washington state and it is a perfect complement. It is rich and smokey but with just a hint of sweetness.

Well, I wasn’t in Washington when I first smoked this; I was on the Northern California coast surrounded by pines, ferns and the sound of the Pacific.

This is my second TCS English-Aromatic blend. I think it’s lovely for cool weather and the wilderness. It is earthy, woody; I detect aromatic notes that remind me of Blue Ribbon, but the English aspect I think gives it an exceptional depth..

When I first opened the bag and began transferring to Mason Jars, I took a big Whiff. The aoroma is HUGE and delicious on the savory side with hints of sweet and complexity. The rich peaty smoky Cyprian Latakia is quite prevalent but in no way overpowering. I thought “Oooh, this is going to be good!” along with the anticipation that this tobacco was going to demand a bit of respect and proper cadence or it was going to bite back. Boy was I wrong! The rich creamy smoke was very well behaved and each puff left you wanting more. There isn’t much of a Nic-hit for an English and I detect a booze topping of some sort. A full bowl in a Castello (G) dublin lasted 1 1/2 hours with only 3 re-lights.

What a wonderful tobacco! This will definitely be on my inner circle of regular rotation tobaccos. Thanks J.D. et.al!!

This is probably my favorite offering from the Country Squire. It’s less aromatic than Hunting Creek. For me this is a good replacement for Frog Morton. But I would like to see them make a variant with a whiskey topping.

Based upon a number of recommendations by my colleagues on pipesmokersden.com I ordered four ounces to try and will confirm that this is yet another inspired blend from The Country Squire. The tin aroma is an early indicator of the flavorful, creamy, sweet and smoky goodness to come. The moisture level is perfect for packing and lighting, neither damp nor dry. It behaves beautifully in the pipe: gentle puffing is all that’s needed to keep the blend going. This truly is a top-notch blend–warm, sweet and comforting–and their claim that this is blend is perfect for Fall weather is well-founded.

Wow! I cellered this with a whiskey stave for about a month. I smoked it in a Nording Flame Grain Orange. My wife was on the porch and exclaimed, “That smells of fruit and bread, like a spice cake” Well it tasted as such! What a smoke!

Country Squire’s decades of blending experience is palpable in all of their blends. Honestly, you could randomly draw a CS blend out of a hat and always pick a tasty winner. Which is basically what I did with this one. No reviews or recommendations; I just picked and clicked. Haha. This is a mellow, all-day smoke with a savory sweet delicious complexity, that reveals those delightful notes in a slightly different way every time I smoke a bowl. IMHO, this is a perfect English Aromatic; one I could live with forever.

It’s funny, how taste change. I typically don’t like English type blends, preferring many of the aromatics offered here. But lately I’ve been discovering some of them that I really like a lot and this now is one of them.

A great aromatic for a predominantly non-aromatic smoker. It’s probably my favorite aromatic from TCS, but I really enjoy all of their blends.

It smokes cool and refreshing. Smells great. It has a perfect moisture level, shouldn’t need a relight unless your doing other things while smoking, but it relights well without the flavor being affected. It won’t bite or burn hot, it’s a tasty, cool-burning smoke.

To me Northwest Trek leads you along the mountain trails with the Northwoods just visible in the distance.

It’s an all day aromatic, if aromatics are what you prefer, but I could definitely smoke one or two bowls of this blend every day and never get tired of it.

Five stars all the way around!!!!!

I can’t remember on which forum I read this but a member was looking for an English Aromatic crossover blend and someone suggested Country Squire’s Northwest Trek. I’ve become a huge fan of Country Squire. Besides their fantastic non-aromatic blends, which I usually prefer overall, they have some special magic when it comes to their aromatics. Most aro’s smell great but fall flat in flavor to my palate. Northwest Trek is a perfect example of how superior their approach is. Never tasting like the blend was drenched in propylene glycol and synthetic flavoring, instead the casing is done with a much more restrained hand, allowing the actual natural tobacco flavors to be apparent resulting in a perfect balance. I am preparing my second bowl of this right now and after my first one it’s an instant go-to for me. A more perfect balance of rich, savory, creamy and slightly sweet you’ll be hard pressed to find, in my opinion. I’m glad the description, and my faith in Country Squire, was enough for me to start with a quarter pound but it’s obvious that I will have this on my repeat list to keep it in stock at all times. Being an aromatic and an English blend cellaring it will only mute the flavors so I’ll just have to keep an eye on my supply so I don’t run out!
This one gets 👍👍 and 10/10 plus 🌟!!
