(5 customer reviews)

A full-bodied treat celebrating The Country Squire’s 50th Anniversary in the heart of the Deep South.  This blend features high-grade, mature Virginia tobaccos paired with peppery St. James Perique.  The mixture is then pressed and gently sliced into cakes, offering spicy and sweet notes redolent with citrus and dark fruit.  A luxurious smoking experience.

    Oh… Oh my.

If you’re reading this review… it’s terrible, don’t buy any.

    ANYWAY…

4/02/22, I cracked open one of two tins that I purchased – met with two hefty slices of pristine-looking cake and the smell of dark fruits – prunes, dried dates and figs – and a kiss of hay. Not particularly exciting on the tin note, but promising all the same.

This came out of the tin at the PERFECT moisture level and smoked beautifully in a Missouri Meerschaum Devil Anse Acorn – wow, this is divine. Citrus, dark fruits, earth, and warm leather notes all come to mind, with the dominant notes shifting throughout the smoke. Absolutely stellar stuff… I need to order a few more tins to cellar, before it’s all gone… I don’t think I can live without this one.

I received my first tin, opened it up and was hit with what I call the “classic horse poopy scent”. JD calls it earthy/mushroomy. Of course it’s the beautiful scent of perique that I love. It was a little fresh for me so I jarred it and let it sit for a month. Opened the jar and man what a difference. Now I’m getting the spice, the dark fruits…its a really nice tobacco. I cant wait to see how it matures and changes over time. I ordered another tin and jarred it…I dont think its going to last me long, I better order more!!!

This anniversary blend is worthy of Country Squire! What a surprising blend and such a pleasing and rich blend without bite or being too heavy. All the tasting notes described come through at each stage of the smoke. It takes a few lights but that may just be my packing method. I highly recommend this to fans of aromatics as well as fans of other straight blends. Well done folks.

Excellent for vaporizing, didnt enjoy the smoke, but 10/10 for vaporizing. Maybe I smoked it too hot

First smoke today, got two tins and thank you guys for the recommendations this one is a complete winner. Tin note purple/ black plums deep and sweet aroma and the flavor is not cloying to the palette . Moisture content perfect, cake slices crumble easily into manageable consistency to pack my Bulldog Ropp. Lights well and stays lit , room aroma is pleasant . The taste is not too spicy, the perique mixture is pretty near perfect for me, full bodied and creamy smooth. Very easy on the tongue! This was a recommendation from the staff and they were on target, thank you Gentlemen and suggest on….
