Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Fuente Aged Selection
Price range: $42.50 through $45.75
The Don Carlos Fuente Aged Selection is a very limited, premium release from the Fuente family, created by Carlito Fuente Jr. in 2006 to mark 30 years of the Don Carlos line. It uses a Dominican Shade-Grown wrapper (the same kind used for Opus X), along with all-Dominican filler and binder tobaccos, and is aged extra so the flavors develop deeply. Tasting-wise, it starts out with a creamy, cedar-and-breadlike sweetness, with notes of raisins, mild earth, and mild bitter coffee. Midway through flavors evolve more toward leather, spice (black pepper on the retrohale), nuts (almond), and still some sweetness and wood. The finish lingers with leather, earth, a touch of cocoa or espresso, and a dash of pepper—stronger, more complex than the original Don Carlos, but still very balanced.
All Don Carlos Fuente Aged Selection Cigars come in 10 count boxes.

Description
The blend
Cameroon wrapper over Dominican Republic binder and filler. Rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente in the Dominican Republic. A Robusto, and the shop rates it mild in strength.
What it smokes like
Here is how it reads to people who have written it up:
“The cold draw of the A. Fuente Don Carlos Presidente serves up notes of fig and molasses, which is very enjoyable while the foot of the cigar offers some sweetness over a barnyard component.” “As we work into the first third of the Don Carlos there is a subtle sweetness over notes of leather and nuts.” — The Cigar Authority, who scored it 89.
Taste is personal, and a cigar that suits one palate will not suit another — but that is the shape of it.
Tasting notes sourced from The Cigar Authority.
