Tombigbee, a weathered vagabond with a soul as untamed as the river after which he was named, roamed the dusty backroads of the American South. With a worn backpack slung over his shoulder, a tobacco pipe clutched between his teeth, and stories etched into the lines on his face, he meandered through the cotton fields of Mississippi and the pine forests of Alabama, finding solace in the ever-changing landscapes. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Tombigbee rested by the banks of his namesake river, puffing on his tobacco pipe and reflecting on the endless tales whispered by the wind and the echoes of the region’s rich history.

I’ve smoked many aromatics over the years, including many from the Country Squire and all of the Fantasy South blends, but nothing holds a candle (/match/lighter) to Tombigbee. It is the quintessential aromatic in my mind. Sweet without being cloying, no bite, all reward. The room note is phenomenal. When enjoying it on the patio of my favorite tobacco-friendly pub, a worker in a cherry-picker working high up on a street light stopped his work to inquire about this heavenly aroma! I keep trying others but always return to my favorite. If you haven’t had the pleasure, order now and be forever glad you did!

Notwithstanding the fact that I have been a pipe smoker for over five decades, I only recently discovered TCS. Intrigued by the reviews, I ordered 1 ounce pouches of a bunch of their blends. I liked them all, but Tombigbee is one of the two top favorites. I agree, 100% with the review recently posted by Matt. I intend to re-order most of the blends. I now have, and will try some additional ones as well, including non-aromatics.

I’ve tried a lot of very good tobacco’s from Country Squire, some I’ve liked more than others, which is how preferences go. Each time, I’ve longed for Tombigbee again and again. Nothing I’ve smoked has been as great as this. I find myself craving it over and over, and couldn’t suggest it more emphatically! Every aspect of it is just right. Great flavors, room notes, no bite, and everyone around is curious what I’m smoking whenever it’s in my pipe. Thank you for such a great product!!

I have some of this by its prior name Old T***

It’s always a bit goopy when I get it. Definitely like it best when I’m left some out overnight to dry up.

Found a bag that was unintentionally “cellared”. Wow. Aged very very well. Wasn’t expecting that.

Best pipe tobacco I’ve ever had. I’ve been an OG fan of this pipe tobacco when it was named “Old Toby” and I am so happy they were able to keep this pipe tobacco alive amidst the licensing issue. It may be “Tombigbee” now, but it will always be “Old Tobey”

mild smoke with great flavor. The wife and the neighbors also enjoyed the room note greatly. The moisture content of the tobacco was perfect, and I will be purchasing more in the future.

Perhaps I am too used to English blends but after reading all the great reviews I thought I’d give this a try. It burned well and had a pleasant room note, but too mild a taste for my satisfaction. Think I will try the English and English aromatics in the future. Just not my cup of tea.

From my first year of college, was always hooked on Mac Baren, especially Plum Cake & Dark Twist. Decades later, reviews pointed me to Tombigbee and I ordered a sample. Wow! The taste is a sweet knockout with a smooth draw, a mild aroma that please even many non-smokers, and just the right amount of moisture. Tombigbee has spoiled me rotten. I’ll never go back to MB brands again and I blame Country Squire for being the best at pipe tobacco.

Tombigbee is my favorite tobacco! The room note is one everyone enjoys and the flavor is so smooth with a touch of sweetness. Takes me back to my grandpa with every smoke. Thank you JD and the folks at the squire for great blends and service!

A really delicious aromatic . Surprisingly complex and not cloying at all. Burns pretty cool. One of my top three or four aros currently. Definitely give it a shot.

Amazing flavor. Like sitting next to a beautiful, perfumed woman who just applied sunscreen. ‘Tin notes’ offer vanilla, honey, cake batter, sweet blossoms and sugar. Comes super moist. The smoke folds together blossoms, honey suckle, rose hip and vanilla. Floral like fresh rose pedals and bee pollen. Mellows into a maple-like, brown sugar, subtle floral notes remain, toasted notes throughout, marshmallow and creme brûlée. Cheers!

This tobacco is very nice and smooth. It tastes very nice and no flavor is too over powering any another. It also have very nice room notes so people won’t be complaining that they smell tobacco out in public or at the bar. This is my favorite tobacco of all time and I will be buying more when I run out.

The tasting notes listed are absolutely on point, and come through loud and clear throughout the bowl with no bite if you treat it gently. For me, brown sugar and candied pecans are at the forefront, with vanilla and cinamon making an appearance to support, and some occasional candied fruit. Sweet, but not tooth-acingly so. Think a lovely un-glazed spice cake, not a candy bar. The room note is truly second to none. My wife came home mid-smoke and genuinely thought I’d been baking cake or cookies. It is a damp blend, and can be tricky to keep light without some dry time before packing. For me, this is a blend that evokes quiet evenings by the fire place with a good book, a warm sweater, and some wonderfully pleasant tobacco.

Strongly recommend to any aromatic smoker, new or experienced.

I just smoked my first bowl of this fine mixture. Ive been on a VaPer streak for the past 3 years but I had to try this out! What a wonderful surprise! It was perfect out of the bag [now jarred]. It behaved nicely and burnt evenly! No tongue bite! And so sweet! It really does taste like snickerdoodles and left my room with a cozy warm baked cookie aroma. What a great treat for the holidays! This has brought me back into the aromatic world and I’m excited! Great job guys!

When I first started smoking a pipe I bought samplings of all the highly recommended blends. I tried them all. And there was something about each and every one of them I didn’t like…you know, the typical complaints, tongue bite, burned hot, harsh taste, nasty room note. Well, I eventually found my way to The Country Squire’s popular Tombigbee blend. I packed my pipe, smoked a bowl, and when I was done there was nothing to complain about. It was delightful in every way! I often tell my wife…The day I stop smoking a pipe will be the day I can no longer get any Tombigbee! This, being Thanksgiving Day, I would like to say…Many thanks to The Country Squire for their wonderful Tombigbee blend!

Man oh man…. No bite, smooth – almost creamy – mouth feel. The smoke at the pipe calls to a dessert blend, but not sickeningly so. Some aromatic spice. Extremely well-balanced, pleasant. If you’re looking to be punched in the face, this isn’t what you want. However, it’s also not a challenge to pick out the notes, either. I’ll have to ask my wife about the room note later on…

My very first bowl of this. It is in league with my all-time favorite, Cowboy Coffee. I’ll be ordering more.

Tombigbee is the blend I enjoy most. I’m not a tobacco expert, but I know what I like, and this one has become my go-to.

It has a warm, inviting aroma right out of the bag, and the smoke itself is smooth and easy from start to finish. The flavor is gently sweet and comforting, with a richness that feels natural and well balanced.

What stands out to me is how consistently pleasant it is. It smokes clean, feels soft on the tongue, and lets me relax into the experience without thinking much about it. I can take my time with it and simply enjoy being there.

I reach for Tombigbee more than any other blend.

Unbelievably good! Lots of interesting flavor to go with an exquisite room note. Nougat and toasted marshmallow carry all the way through the bowl, and the tobacco behaves wonderfully.

I also get the sensations of warm peanut butter toast, sips of sweetened coffee and cream, and, of course, sugar cookies. As others have said, it’s a contemplative aromatic with wonderful flavors, and one that can be enjoyed any time of the day or all day. Looking forward to sharing this one with friends and having it on hand again. Enjoy!
